Roundup

The best AI chatbot tools, by what you're trying to do

Seven tools and one build-it-yourself option, organised by situation rather than ranked. Figures checked 2026-09-10.

We make one of the tools on this list. So it’s ordered by situation, not ranked; we appear once, under the case we’re genuinely best at; and every entry names what that tool does better. Every price is from the vendor’s own page on 2026-09-10.

Which one fits what you're doing

  1. You run a staffed support team with a shared inbox

    Intercom· Seats + $0.99/resolution

A mature helpdesk with ticketing, SLAs, routing and reporting built for a team that lives in a queue. Fin sits on top of it. Expensive at volume — resolutions are billed individually — but nothing else in this list is a real helpdesk.

  2. You want flat pricing with seats included

    Crisp· About $45/month

Workspace pricing rather than per conversation, with several seats at the entry tier. Easier to forecast if your bottleneck is people rather than message volume.

  3. You run an ecommerce store and want live chat first

    Tidio· About $24/month

A polished live-chat product with a mature Shopify integration, visitor tracking and proactive triggers. The AI capability is a separate add-on, so price it as two line items.

  4. You want to design each conversation path yourself

    Voiceflow

A genuine builder with versioning and collaboration, for teams who want to author flows explicitly rather than correct a draft. Public self-serve pricing has been withdrawn, so expect a call.

  5. You are a B2B revenue team qualifying pipeline

    Drift

Built for an outbound sales motion — ABM routing, pipeline reporting, deep revenue-stack integration. Enterprise contracting, and priced accordingly.

  6. You want an agent trained on your content, with a track record

    Chatbase· About $32/month

The closest product in shape to ours, with far more customers, more channels out of the box, and compliance certifications we do not hold. Tiered credit allowances starting around $32 a month.

  7. You have a website that needs to answer questions, book time and capture leads — and no support team

    integrable.cloud· $12/month

Ours, and the situation it is actually built for. It reads your existing pages rather than asking you to author content, cites the page each answer came from, books onto a real calendar, and starts at $12 a month. It is not a helpdesk and has no compliance certifications — if you need either, one of the six above is the better answer.

  8. You have engineers and a reason to own the stack

    Build it yourself· Engineering time

The demo takes a weekend. Retrieval quality, calendar OAuth that survives a revoked token, tenant isolation and an admin UI take months. Worth it if the workflow is genuinely unsupported by any product.

  • What is the cheapest AI chatbot for a website?

Of the tools listed here, integrable.cloud is the lowest entry price at $12 a month for roughly 1,695 conversations, with a free plan at 500 credits. Chatbase starts around $32 a month and Tidio around $24, though Tidio's AI capability is a separate add-on. Intercom bills per resolution rather than per month, which is cheaper at very low volume and considerably more expensive above a few hundred conversations. We publish this comparison and we are one of the products in it — check current pricing on each vendor's own page.
  • Do I need a developer to add an AI chatbot to my site?

For most of these tools, no. The normal path is pasting one snippet of HTML into your site the way you would an analytics tag. Voiceflow is the exception in this list in that it expects you to design the conversation before anything is live, which is more work regardless of whether that work is technical.
  • Will an AI chatbot make things up about my business?

It depends on whether the tool retrieves from your content before answering, and whether it shows you which page an answer came from. A tool that cites its source makes a wrong answer diagnosable — you can see which page produced it and fix that page. A tool that does not leaves you tuning a prompt and hoping. Ask any vendor to show you what happens when it is asked something the site does not answer; the honest behaviour is to say so and capture the question.
  • How is this list ordered?

By situation, not by rank. There is no best tool overall because the right choice for a solo consultant and for a 40-seat support team are different products. We make one of the tools listed, which is stated at the top of the page rather than in a footnote.
